Upcoming effect on pulse?

Camron Flanders Feb 22, 2013 12:57PM EST

My photo made upcoming a few minutes ago, and I came to the site to check it out and I see that it had a high pulse of 76, and now it's at 67 even after being favorited since making upcoming. If the photo makes upcoming, is the pulse degradation accelerated?

I wonder because:
1. I uploaded photo
2. It gets to 76 and makes Upcoming

within 5 minutes this happens:
3. It gets favorited a couple of times
4. Pulse falls to 67 and falls out of Upcoming

I’m ok with it becoming harder to keep pulse the higher it becomes, I just don't see this documented anywhere.

Hi Camron,

Looks like your photo was Upcoming last night, about 13 hours ago. Then overnight, the Pulse dropped due to time decay. All new photos lose about 10 points overnight on their first night (in EST).

Was the Upcoming notification sent to you last night? Or just recently?

Please make time decay happen 24 hours AFTER the photo is uploaded. It's rather ridiculous if you live in the Eastern Timezone, you have to wait till midnight to upload if you want all 24 hrs.

Hi Victor,

Thanks for the feedback. We have lots of changes coming to our Pulse algorithm, so we appreciate your feedback.
