Hi Guys,
I read below that you are currently working on some changes to both the voting procedures and the pulse overall. My main suggestion, as others may have mentioned, is that you find a way to display the HIGHEST pulse for each photo more prominently on our home page/library. The problem currently is that hundreds of people will eventually be seeing our home page, and the vast majority of them will know NOTHING of 500 px voting or pulse. What they will see when they access our page is simply ratings on photos that look strikingly similar to what you would find on rottentomatoes.com. Even if we were to post every single day, over time all of our photos will begin to look like they have very low ratings, i.e. less than 50 %. To me, this is a significant problem as it does not adequately show our ratings by the community at large. I would suggest designing one pulse to show on our home page (highest with current below) and a different pulse to show up on the popular page. No idea if this is possible, but it would really go a long way to fix what I feel is a flawed system. You might also consider allowing photographers to turn OFF the pulse display on their home page in case they post large amounts of shots and aren't interested in the pulse. 500 PX is already an amazing site. If we could fix this issue along with the current voting system, I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks for all of your hard work! :)
Hi William,
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll share that feedback with our designers.
