On July 18, 2019 500px underwent a site-wide maintenance resulting in an outage duration of approximately 10 hours. We are working as quickly as possible to ensure all features are fully operational and will be updating our Status page as we continue to resolve these issues.
Updates to Pulse
During this update, we also made changes to the Pulse algorithm. Pulse is unique to 500px and is based on Views & Likes on your photo from the community. Each Like is assigned a unique value, based on the voters' activity on 500px.
Why did we update Pulse
Previously, all Likes on 500px were valued equally, however, this is no longer the case. We believe your best work should be rewarded so we made this update to address users who like thousands of photos indiscriminately rather than selecting the images they truly believe to be excellent. After a certain threshold, the likes from a user will be valued slightly less.
This update will help to make Pulse scores more accurate and more closely tied to the quality of the photo.
Features that are operational with degraded performance (currently under investigation):
General site performance: You may experience occasional performance issues.
Uploads: Users may have some issues uploading photos.
Home Feed: Users are reporting that newly uploaded photos are not appearing in their own Home Feed and are not seen by those who follow them.
Stats: In some reported cases, it may display 0 in the Activities section despite insights within the Activity feed, for activity between 1 and 5 August 2019. Some users are experiencing discrepancies between Profile, Photo pages, and Stats.
